Michael Crichton is one of the best authors of our time and we are sad to see someone with such talent leave us. Crichton was the author to some truly unique books including “The Andromeda Strain” and “Jurassic Park”. He died of cancer this week at the age of 66.
“Through his books, Michael Crichton served as an inspiration to students of all ages, challenged scientists in many fields, and illuminated the mysteries of the world in a way we could all understand. While the world knew him as a great storyteller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us and entertained us all while doing so his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes.” his family said in a statement.
This man of brilliance was not just an author – but also a filmmaker and screenwriter. Many of the movies that he worked on were adaptations of his own works. He also created one of the most brilliant dramas on television in 1994 known as “ER”. The show has been running for 14 years and is finishing up its final season.
He has had made many friends like President George Bush. One of the more recent issues that he addressed in his books was the issue of global warming. He made his views very clear in his novel the “State of Favor”. Many environmentalists disagreed with his views and accused him of hurting their chances to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide. His newest novel was scheduled to be released next month – but due to his illness it had been postponed.
